How do you pray?

Kris & I recently had dinner with dear friends of ours who are missionaries in Indonesia. They are pictured with us here, and their names are James & Mona. It was refreshing to talk with such God centered folks that live for the King. I mean REALLY talk. And of course we ended the night with prayer, the longest prayer I've had in a while. Interesting enough, we didn't pray for our safety and security and all the warm and cozy things that most of us pray for daily. No, we prayed for God's will, whatever that may be...if it is His will that my car break down so that I can witness to the guy who helps me with the jump....then so be it, or if it is His will that I do get in that car accident that puts me into the hospital because the lady that I will be laying next to needs to hear the word....then so be it. Praying for Gods will is hard...and uncomfortable. But humbling. I now know of a whole different type of prayer. One that involves working for the kingdom, and not just for my pleasures and comforts. But I confess, I'm not very good at this yet. I mean, who wants to pray for something inconvenient to happen to them? Not me. However, it has to be me. It has to be me that says that prayer....because I'm here for Him.

I'm glad that I had the privilege of reading your first post in blogger land. - oh how very challening it can be to seek God's will - it seems in my life my flesh seeks it's own way far too often.

Your post also made me realize that it's been far too long since I've taken time to pray, really pray with & in my friendships....

thank you for your post.
blessings,
jen:)
